Sept 23, 2019 – My Tucson diaries a piece of advice from 70 years of human life…
It was a late summer evening in Tucson, AZ and it was raining with soft drizzle. On a hilly road with fog in the mountains, a 25-year-old booked a cab to go to his pre-booked Airbnb accommodation. The cab driver was a 69-year-old ex-accountant who earned a lot of money throughout his career. After making himself comfortable, the young man started having a conversation with the old. The Old man was turning 70 the next Sunday when they met. The curious young man then asked the 70-year old “What’s the one piece of advice you give to a 25-year old from your life?”
After a moment of silence which seemed like a lifetime, the old man replied with two words: “Be Happy’. With the soothing “Down on a different path” by Richard Dillon playing on the radio and the misty Arizona hills emerging through the raindrops on the windshield, the young man felt ethereal.
